Default System Restore Points WinMe

C:\ Total Space 12.2 GB
Used Space 4.13 GB
Free Space 8.11 GB
SR Space Allocated 460MB

It automatically deletes the all SR points
without any warning or any error message.
I have tried by clearing and resetting but
no luck.
Any help would be appreciated.

AAH,

More information required. For example when are the SR checkpoints being
deleted? On boot up or at some other time? What changes have you made to
your system since system restore was working correctly? Can you still
create a manual checkpoint? If you reboot after making a manual
checkpoint is the checkpoint retained? Can you restore to a manual
checkpoint you made earlier?

WHEN does it clear the SR points?
WHAT AV do you have installed?
ARE YOU running any other OS in a dual-boot configuration?
ARE YOU using any registry cleaners?

It could be either on bootup or shutdown
Cannot 100 percent pinpoint.

NO Changes. The only thing I do once a week is
to restopre the rbxxx.cab file
The only software which may cause some
irritation is to my memory -- SUPERAntiSpyware---

Can you still
create a manual checkpoint? If you reboot after making a manual

On reset it creates the point during the first boot.
and any manual point remains in tact during the
boot process.
Both type of points can be restored but very slow.

Computer is protected by the manufacturer
with Norman Data Defence System.
It is old version but worked fine.
In the past also F-Prot but at
present none.

No

ARE YOU using any registry cleaners?

Yes CleanReg3 old version.
This has been on for a very very lon time.

The only software ---SUPERAntiSpyware ---
may need some attention or discontinue it?

Firstly,

Something has changed otherwise the problem would always have existed.

If you were to create a checkpoint now and then reboot would the
checkpoint still be present? If still present how long does it last
before it gets flushed?

Out of curiosity why do you restore the registry each week using the
backup created by scanreg? I find this most odd and means that you are
undoing all or any changes you have made to the system during the course
of the week including quite possibly data used by your AV application.

Does the problem persist if you temporarily disable or remove
SuperAntiSpyware?

Hmmm - assuming that Norman hasn't upgraded (rather than just updated)
itself, then I'd be VERY surprised if the AV protection you're getting is
anything like adequate!
I've never actually seen Norman running, but I also can't recall any
instances of it causing problems in ME.....
The Norman website doesn't even acknowledge that 'Norman Data Defence
System' exists, so when was your last AV update??

....All of which is beside the point - which is to get SR working properly
again!

CleanReg3 seems to be fairly innocuous as registry cleaners go - but it
still isn't worth the paper it's written on - so I'd dump it (what do you
use it for?), even though I can't see it causing your current problems.

....I'll have to come back to you

I am almost certain SUPERAntiSpyware doesn't have anything to do with your
loss.
You can check its quarantine contents to be sure. H.

I see you are using Avast, it definitely is interfering with SR in WinME.
