Cannot read error
Hi
I am putting an old i430vx system together,( I know, I must be crazy). Everything has gone ok windows 98 has loaded, no conflicts, no yellow flags. However I get an error message when trying to copy files from the floppy A. It obviously opens to show the files, but when I try to copy the file to the desktop, the process goes for a sec or two and then comes up with the following message: "System cannot read form the specified Drive." I have tried several drives, one is definitely OK. I have also tried different cables and this does no good. Am I missing a setting in the BIOS or something else. Thanks in advance Wombat Eats, roots and leaves. |

Are you sure the disk is OK? You tried it on another machine? Copied all the
files to a hard drive? -- Gary S. Terhune MS-MVP Shell/User www.grystmill.com "Wally Wombat" wrote in message ... Hi I am putting an old i430vx system together,( I know, I must be crazy). Cannot read error
Hi there
Thanks for the quick reply. You are dead right. The disk was no good, which just goes to show. I used this disc to load the system files before fdisking the hard drive. So I expected it to be able to read it again after 98 was loaded, but no, when I tried it on another XP computer it informed me the disc was unreadable and needed formatting. I format the disk, recopied the files and bingo there they were. Just another one of those things. Wombat Eats, roots and leaves. "Gary S. Terhune" wrote: Are you sure the disk is OK?
