Default MS exchange reinstallation

Due to an unsuccessful installation and uninstallation of
an antivirus software on a windows 98 PC the MS exchange
mail program appears to have been damaged: Mail messages
are received with the sender´s name unprocessed and the
text (mail body) completely missing.
Is it possible to reinstall just MS exchange without having to
reinstall Windows completely. If so, how is it done. I have not
been able to find info about this in the documentation.
Many thanks in advance,
Sven Ingvar Jonsson
