Create a file named SHARE.EXE in the C: root directory using Notepad, it can
be an empty file (no contents). That will fix it.

Glad I was able to help you figure it out, even if I wasn't quite right.

I didnt put my question - i'm sorrye -- I have exactly the same problem but
don't know how to creat the share.exe file, nor where. I successfully
installed Works 3 on my laptop which has Wondows XP, but my main PC (Win982E)
has been throwing crashes whenever i exit works therefore i decided to
reinstall, but it gave the message - cannot find share.exe. although I could
see one in the windows folder when i ran 'Find' - i decided to change names
and then export share.exe from my laptop by email and drag and drop to the
Windows System32 folder.

I still cannot install works and still get the same mesage - unable to find
share.exe
