Thinking of upgrading to win2000 from win98. Problem is i don't have a
licensed cd for win2000. is it ok if i install one borrowed from a friend? he
has a licensed installation discs. will it be detected by microsoft once i
installed win2000 and surf the net?

It won't be legal but Microsoft won't know if its not legitimate because
Windows XP requires Product Activation and Microsoft asks you to go through a
process to verify that you have a legitimate copy of XP if you want to
install its AntiSpyware software.

So Microsoft doesn't even know if a person is running a legal copy of XP,
and Windows 2000 doesn't require activation.

You don't even need to have it registered to obtain updates from Microsoft
Update (used to be called Windows Update)

cough cough....... & er cough.

isnt 'morals' based around a code of ethics set about by the
lord himself??
sounds to me like you are circum-navigating for puritan purposes.

sure, do what you like regarding theft, the internet allows all morals
to be tossed out the window; ; but can you sleep.

u r welcome.
this world has become a place where all morals and ethics are tossed
aside in lieu of self indulgence........ and sadly, even those who seem
to be of righteous intent are actually the 'dead' opposite.
only those with the holy ghost inside can see the difference, and hence
be pricked in their decision making.
good will to you friend.

...Rex..
