Default MSGRV32 Error

Hello -- I used to run Win98 and Redhat Linux on a
dual-boot desktop (AMD K62 chip, 450 MHz processor,
128 Mb RAM). I gave this computer to a friend, who
wanted Win98 only on it. He recruited me to help
wipe out the old partitions and install Win98 SE
from scratch.

Let me note now that I cannot boot from the floppy
drive for some reason. So, in order to get to fdisk
land, I used a Win98 installation CD, got a command
prompt, and used fdisk to delete all the old partitions.
Then I created a primary drive that used all the memory
on the hard drive.

So far so good. The reformatting of the C drive (taken care
of by a prompt from the Win98 CD) and subsequent installation
appeared to go without a hitch.

The problem is when I try to boot up the operating system for the
first time. I get a GUI asking for my name, organization, etc, and
at this point the OS craps out and delivers the following error
message, for which I would apprecatiate some help interpreting
and dealing with:

MSGRV32 caused a general protection fault in module USER.EXE at
0003:00009114

Thanks for any help!

You need to spell file names right or troubleshooting becomes very
difficult. MSGRV32 should be MSGSRV32. See if this article helps:

Thanks....that looks like a helpful link. You're entirely
right about the annoying misspelling. I'll blame it on
my friend, who spelled it incorrectly when he emailed me
the error message (which he apparently copied by hand).
Anyway, thanks again.
