can't get to any web pages
Working on a friend's computer with Win98, reinstalled OS
due to other problems. Can hook up to dial-up, but can't get any page to display. The title of any box is "No page to display - Microsoft Internet Explorer" and the message is "Internet Explorer was unable to link to the Web page you requested. The page might be temporarily unavailable." This guy had a lot of junk in background, such as bridge.dll and I want to get ad-aware on his computer, but I can't get to any websites. Any ideas?? Should I try to reinstall IE from his CD? Thanks. |

can't get to any web pages
If you have access to the web through another PC and it
has a CD Burner. Go to the sites needed and save programs to a CD. Get a firewall also. Then go back to the one you are working on and download the programs via the CD. You need to order the Critical update CD from MS. For future use as this. Also a CD with a basic free firewall,AdAware,AVG and Spybot on it would help also. I have noticed the same problem useing the IE version that comes with 98SE. Once you get the upgrade to IE6 or 5 you will probly not have this problem. But it usually worked to get to Windows update site. -----Original Message----- Working on a friend's computer with Win98, reinstalled OS due to other problems.
