WInsock Error
Here is the story:
Win 98 SE BT ADSL router 205 connected the cables, light are on, meaning it has connected to the network, installed the drivers as instructed, not able to access the web. Program which came with router performs a diagnosis and returns following message: "your computer does not appear to be configured to automatically receive an IP address from your router using DHCP" BT tech support has me enter in the TCP/IP properties the IP and Gateway addresses manually, but still not working. WE did some PINGING within CMD and it returned results for the IP address but not for the actual router (if I remember this right). Their verdict is that it is an OS issue to resolve with Microsost, actually a Winsock error. Me? Don't know what the heck to do since it beyond my computer expertise, and can't pay the high tech support charges to have a chat with a Microsoft tech support agent. |
