Default Desktop Display

A recent problem I have been having occurs when I first boot up Window ME,
the background appears along with the mouse pointer (and I can move the mouse
around) but the taskbar and icons fail to appear. I surmissed that this was a
display problem after rebooting the machine in Safe Mode and the taskbar and
icons did appear. I was just wondering if anyone could give me any
suggestions.

Probably the best route is to use System Restore - but ONLY if the problem
is less than a week old!!
