Default need to reload Java

I was using ComuServe dial up and I was able to play Yahoo
games with no problem for the longest time. I installed
Earthlink dial up with acceleration last month and my IE
6.0 has not been the same when using it for some things. I
played my Yahoo game using IE and the Java Runtime
Environment Clock became damaged,as it pointed out in
"downloaded program file".I followed all the instructions
and even repaired IE a few times.Unfortunately I
uninstalled the runtime environment,so I downloaded the
recommended runtime environment from Sun MicroSystems and
Yahoo can't use it.Whenever I try to play a game it asks me
if I want to get the required plug-in.It always takes me to
page where I downloaded the new runtime environment,as if I
haven't downloaded it.I feel I may have the wrong one.I see
that this version I downloaded is for Win XP but it's the
one they give me for my system. I also can't post a message
on here using IE 6.0. I have to use Compuserve. If I use IE
6.0 I get a orange/red fist and no page opens up.I
currently updated with Norton Antivirus and ran a complete
scan.I have no viruses. I am always updated for the
critical updates.I have enabled all Java settings and the
like.If I should just uninstall that new Runtime
Environment Version SE 1.4.2_04 and reload Java with the
bootable cd rom I will. Please tell me exactly how to do
this.Thanks very much.

I don't know. However...
http://groups.google.com/groups?q=Un...=Google+Search
"Uninstall Sun MicroSystems Java" does come up with 511 at GG. Look for
something sensible, & post back any further questions.

Thanks or Good Luck,
There may be humor in this post, and,
Naturally, you will not sue,
should things get worse after this,

Look for 'Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2_04' in
Add/Remove Programs list and remove it. I would get the
stand alone version which is a 15 meg download unless your
CD has the same file. In any event, a reboot between
uninstall and reinstall would be a good thing to do.
