Default Start up problems

Ray:

RH When i start windows 98 i have to do it file by file and
RH say no to a file that starts with " REM TShoot" and then a
RH bunch of jiberish. If i let it start on normal, the windows
RH 98 screen apears and it goes no further.
RH Actually, two screens start with the " REM Tshoot" and
RH then jiberish, but if i say yes to the first and no to the
RH second, it will still start.
RH How can I get rid of these start up files so that windows
RH will start by itself.

"REM" means "remark", as in a comment. The computer generally does
not respond to the commands following a REM. (Exceptions include a
command line with the pipe symbol "|" and redirects "", "").

Not sure why "yes to first and no to second" works -- would have to
see the boot file (probably AUTOEXEC.BAT). Also, what's the
jibberish? If text is one thing, if a bunch of 'random' symbols could
mean the computer is trying to run a corrupted programme and that
where your problem is.
