Default HardDrive issue

I reformated my main physical Hardrive, and reinstalled
win98, the problem is however, that "My Computer" does not
show anything for my 2nd physical harddrive, that was
present before the formating and reinstallation.
The 2nd HD shows up in my BIOS, how can I fix this!!?

Thanx in advance

Have you confirmed that the second drive is working properly?

Do FDISK /Status at a DOS prompt to see what partitions Windows recognises
on the second drive.

Thanx Jeff, the 2nd drive is working correctly from what i
can tell. It was working perfect before the reformat of
the other drive, and I nothing to it.

Fdisk recognizes the 2nd drive, and it just tested the
integrity. The size that fd shows is smaller than the
actual size, if that is anything.

I have valuable data of course on that drive and loosing
it is not an option...

What did FDISK /Status say about the partitioning on the drive? Did it see
a partition and did it correctly identify the partition type and size (the
size might be less than the disk size)?

Had you been using a drive overlay program?

The Western Digital software is the drive overlay. It may be some other
things besides, such as disk partitioning and formatting, but it's the
overlay you want. Consult the Western Digital documentation for information
on installing the overlay into an existing system, so it will support an
add-on hard disk drive.

That's not actually what I recommended, but it might work. Be aware that
most versions of this software cannot be removed from the partition without
destroying all the data on the partition. If you want to preserve any data
on that drive then you must double check that any procedure you are given
for removing the software will properly preserve all other data on the
drive.

If you don't want any data on the drive it is simpler to ZAP or WIPE the
drive than to go through the removal process.
