digital camera

If it isn't one thing it's another. I have a friend's digital camera I'm
trying to download pictures from, however, I've never done this so I'm
flying a little blind. I found a program trial version of (Photomeister) to
download the pics, well, I can't find the camera which is plugged in USB.
I went to a web site to find the driver info and downloaded it (finepix
usb), however, when I download it and try to install, I get an error
stating: ( OX80070725 ) Incompatible version of the RPC stub... and I don't
have an idea what that means.

Is there a simple no frills program (freeware) I can use just to download a
couple of pics from this camera. The camera is a Fujifilm A340.

Are you certain that you downloaded the Fuji drivers for Windows ME and
not another OS? I'm assuming your OS is Windows ME since you're posting
in this NG. That may be a good place to start.

Yes, and I did get the RPC error corrected, however, I still can't get the
pics downloaded from the camera to the computer. I may be using the wrong
program or I'm not using it correctly. Either way it seems the program does
not know the camera is connected to USB.

download the pics from camera to computer.

Did you check on the Fuji site to see if there was a support faq or user
manual for the camera/software? These things (digital cameras) can be
pretty finicky and no 2 of them run the same way.

I have a Fuji Finepix A340 and it downloads just fine via USB using the
software that came with the camera. Have you installed the supplied
software? The camera should be turned off when you plug in the connector,
then switch it to playback mode and Windows should detect that the device is
connected. The LCD display on the camera should show that a USB transfer is
taking place. Fuji FinePixViewer is then automatically launched and shows
the progress of the transfer, saving the images to a folder it creates in
'My Pictures'. On my system the camera is actually seen as drive F, so if
you don't have the FinePixViewer software installed, you could open F and
cut and paste the image files to a folder .

I contacted my buddy who's camera this belongs to and he said he's almost
sure he didn't install anything from the camera package. He seems to think
something was already on his computer to download pics. The problem is, his
computer is trashed and I'm trying to use his camera and download a full
card on my machine.
Are there any web sites I can download the installation software for this
camera, givin that's the problem?
Otherwise I'm going to back up and punt...

Do you have a memory card reader? You could then copy the pictures
directly from the memory card to the PC. There is also viewer software
available for the A340 from the Fujifilm web site.
