Almost playing MIDIs
I had set up Microsoft Media Player to play some special MID files
through my browser in a special situation and it was working quite well. (In fact, that was my only reason for buying into Windows.) One day something asked me if I wanted to install Quick Time. It was apparently very foolish to say yes. Quick Time took over ALL possible music protocols including my MIDI setup with never so much as a "may I" that I can recall. Now Quick Time insists on playing my browser MIDI files and doing a very, very crappy job of it. I know how get rid of Quick Time, but going into any browser, including IE, does not show me the menu item necessary to set the browser file defaults as I did previously. Can someone help me get this thing back on track? And, yes. I DID say opening IE (v 6) doesn't show the option of setting readers for various estensions. Perhaps this is because IE 6 is totally freaked out, bonkers, loony, crazy, insane and otherwise around the bend if you don't let it go onto the internet willy nilly. (Fortunately I have Mozilla to get my work done.) Actually, clicking on a .mid file via My Computer, etc., puts the file into Media Player. But I really need my browser MIDI lined to with the Media Player again. HELP! Jim L |

Doubleclick the Quicktime Icon in the Control Panel. The settings box
should come up. Click on File type Asssociations in the Drop down list, and uncheck the associations there. Quicktime is famous for stealing associations. This worked for me. charlie R wrote in message ... I had set up Microsoft Media Player to play some special MID files through my browser in a special situation and it was working quite well.
