Bill,
Whart I thing is the system is lock or either go to the suspend mode or hibernation at some point so I assume is a power settings. I went to the Bios Power section and by default the CPU speed is set to full. I changed it to AUTO and not load windows when the system suspend. I go back to bios and change the speed to 25% and it suspend even faster when the brand screens opens. I put it back to full and it loads windows complete but in a coupla of second the system suspend as usual. I'm not really an expert in this so I can't see what is wrong ..the bios or the cpu or something else..... Thank you for any help and and I'm about to give up on this. I look at the bios setting and I do not find anything regarding TV or anything like that. Bios seems to be on the default settings. I reboot the pc after that and still doing the same. I will explain everything again in case I miss telling something.. I partitioned and format drive C: and set up the windows 98 everything was fine till the last settings before windows finished to load everything. Since was the first time usually windows keep loading and configurating new files or programs but soon as open a harware wizard to install the drivers for the the pc just not really turn off but the system stop responding and the monitor turn off. The keyboard not work and the CTRL+ALT+DEL to rebbot not work. I hope you know something about this behavior because I do not have a clue, BTW the pc its a Sony notebook pentium II 366Mhz bios version R0206K0. Thank you for all the help you are given me, sincerely Paola Try this: Go into the BIOS and temporarily disable Plug and Play. If it's disabled enable it. Your BIOS may not be registered in the Machine.inf file and this may help. Start Setup again. Setup may try to install into a Windows.000 or similar folder this time, be sure to change it to C:\Windows. Don't delete any temporary files until after Windows is running successfully. Setup may need them. Regards, Bill Watt Computer Help and Information http://home.ptd.net/~bwatt/ |

Try Control Panel Power Management and adjust the settings. That may help. I understand you can get into Safe Mode so try it there.
