Not detecting all disks installed
On one of my computers with Win 98, there are 3 hard drives and 1 CD-RW
installed. The system BIOS detects all 4 of these drives with no problems. However, when in My Computer only 2 hard drives and the CD-RW are displayed and the second drive doesn't work, coming up with the error messge "D:\ is not accessable. A device attached to the system is not responding - Retry / Cancel" Does anyone know how to make it display all 3 hard drives and get it to read all of them? I don't want to format any of the drives. |

Not detecting all disks installed
Just an afterthought:
HD 1 is the boot drive and is about 1 GB HD 2 is detected but can't be read and in 10.5 GB HD 3 is not detected by windows at all and in 6.5 GB The CD dive is 40x12x48 CD-RW high speed. HD2 and 3 mat be formatted in NFTS file mode. I do not have any oh the install disks. The same problem occurs if I boot using Win 95. |

HD2 and 3 may be formatted in NFTS file mode.
Then you will see them in Device Manager (and probably in My Computer) as the drives -- but won't access them in Win9x/ME: Win9x/ME do not work with NTFS drives. -- Mikhail Zhilin MS MVP (Windows - Shell/User) http://www.aha.ru/~mwz Sorry, no technical support by e-mail. In order to see an NTFS partition, W98 needs a special driver that is read
only. Suggest you remake the partitions using fat 32. -- Regards Ron Badour, MS MVP for W98 Tips: http://home.satx.rr.com/badour Knowledge Base Info: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?pr=kbinfo "Ricardo" wrote in message ...
