recycle bin
I recently removed norton systemworks and now our recycle bin has no
name (the icon appears on the desktop but has no name). Was wondering how to give it back its name. Thanks. |

See if you can delete the unnamed bin, then reboot. Win98 should then make you a new (empty) Recycled Bin. -- Don Phillipson Carlsbad Springs (Ottawa, Canada) |

You may have to do it in dos mode (not a dos window). Remove the
attributes, then delete the folder. May remain unnamed recycle bin when rebooting windows. If so, post back. -- Lil' Dave Beware the rule quoters, the corp mindset, the Borg Else you will be absorbed "Don Phillipson" wrote in message ... "*selah*" wrote in message ... Try Tweak UI, Desktop tab, right click the Recycle Bin and select rename.
Tweak UI is available from: http://www.microsoft.com/ntworkstati.../NTTweakUI.asp Right-click the TweakUI .inf file and select install. Should a notice appear saying a disk is required, click OK and another screen appears. Click browse, go to the folder containing Tweak and click OK and OK. -- Regards Ron Badour, MS MVP for W98 Tips: http://home.satx.rr.com/badour Knowledge Base Info: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?pr=kbinfo "*selah*" wrote in message ... I removed the hidden and system attributes, deleted the hidden files in
the directories (on the c: and d: drives) in dos mode, but when I tried to delete the "recycled" directories, I got the message "invalid path, not a directory, or directory not empty". "Attrib" shows that there are no files in the "recycled" directory as does "dir".. "Borg hater" wrote in message ... You may have to do it in dos mode (not a dos window). Enter deltree command which doesn't care about attributes. And when invoked as in the example below, will wipe out all the files and the directory itself - just what the doctor ordered? deltree C:\recycled deltree D:\recycled deltree E:\recycled etc., ... |
