vnetbios.vxd ; vredir.vxd ; dfs.vxd ???
"-RS-" wrote in message
... Asus P2B-F 168MB of RAM Celeron 550 I was doing a clean install of Win98SE on a freshly FDISKed and formatted system and it seemed to go well. The only card in the machine was the PCI video card. After Windows seemed to be cleanly installed, I shut down and put in the ISA D-Link DE-220 network adapter, and fired back up. The install from the floppy disk that came with the NIC may not have gone smoothly... I'm a bit hazy exactly how the actual install went ... I believe Device Manager showed a big yellow "?" mark by the NIC ... until I updated the driver and directed the process to the floppy disk. The NIC works with the Internet. BUT when I reboot I now always get error messages involving: vnetbios.vxd vredir.vxd dfs.vxd also: locproxy.exe and when Windows desktop just starts to show the wallpaper: "can't find msnp32.dll" Also sometimes the CD drive does not show up in My Computer until I reboot. Other than the quirk of having to press "any key" to get through the error messages on boot up, the system seems to work fine ! (with the exception being that I haven't yet been able to institute File Sharing so far...) What should I do to clean up the boot up process ? What caused this to happen ?? Thanks ! -RS- Remove all existing protocols from Control Panel Network, reboot go back into Network and install TCP/IP, enable file and print sharing. rgds Li'l Roberto |
