Default Reddirecting Lpt1: to a USB port

I need to find a way to redirect printing from Lpt1 to a USB printer port so
I can print from a DOS based program that is hard programmed to print only to
Lpt1:

I found that this method meant for word perfect works with other programs

As did assigning the usb printer as a network printer, and capturing LPT1:
to the network printer name
