Default capture lpt1 to usb port?

The old lpt1 printer died and was replaced. The new
printer only has a USB connection. We have some old apps
that only print to lpt1. Is there a way to capture the
lpt1 port and redirect it to the USB printer?

There is an old DOS utility called prn2file which can redirect the LPT
output to a file, then you can have Printfil sending it to ANY Windows
printer, including USB, networked and Virtual (such as fax softwares and PDF
writers)

On our web site you can find more info and a free trial to download.

Kind regards,

Default capture lpt1 to usb port?

I figured out a solution. I shared the USB printer at the
win98 machine. I connected to the printer share at the
server. At the server I shared printer again. At the
win98 machine I captured LPT1 to the share on the server.
(For some reason win98 won't accept a cpature to it's own
share.) Now when DOS progams send a print job to LPT1, it
goes to the server and then back to the win98
workstation's USB printer.
