Default Microsoft Visual Basic error.

Please help. I have a laptop that is running Windows 98. This is occuring
with several programs so I don't know if it's Windows or another program.
Anyhow, I get an error that says something about Microsoft Visual Basic has
caused an error. You can click o.k. and it will normally go away but it gets
a little annoying. Can you think of anything that I can try to resolve this?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Sincerely,
Rodney Brown
