Default Two of everything?

Hi guys,

Have an interesting problem after installing a USB Mass-storage device on
98se system - installation went well BUT...

The problem is that in My Computer each partition on the drive gets shown
twice and each gets its own letter.

Any ideas?

How big is the storage device? Run scandisk and see what happens.

I just bought a caddie and it has happened with various old HD's varying
from 2-6gb, which I wanted to check out before selling on or donating - I
assume that it is not a size issue. I formatted them and scandisked them, so
to give a fresh start and an empty drive.

No such problem on an XP set-up.

Does the device appear more than once in Device Manager?

Ahaaa!

I notice that I have two sets of USB drivers shown in device manager - could
this be the problem?

Removing one lot seemed to do it.

Thanks!
