Close Program Notation - End Task
Close Program Notation
On occasion, when I inquire about a fix for a computer problem, I am told to End Task all entries except Explorer and Systray. As you know, when you reboot the computer all the entries reappear. So, my question is how does this End Task operation fix anything if all the entries reappear? Jerry |

End task in itself isn't necessarily going to fix anything but instead creates the environment in which the fix or operation is to be carried out. Such an environment would then exist until you next reboot. If however you wish to permanently prevent certain applications from running unless specifically requested then these applications need to be removed from the start-up axis but be very careful about doing so as some are essential to the safe operation of the operating system. Perhaps you could elaborate a little on whatever the problem is that you are experiencing? -- Mike Maltby |

Close Program Notation - End Task
Mike –
Thanks for your return. I use AOL and often when I inquire about a problem, a recommended fix is to End Task. So, I don’t have a particular problem I can recall at this time, but wanted to be prepared the next time I get the same fix suggestion. I do remember the last time I had a problem, AOL mentioned this as a fix. I told him that should not work since all the entries reappear at reboot. He then went on to another option.
