testing ATA133 on a W98SE machine?
Hi all,
I have the following: motherboard - ECS L7VMM3 3200+ hard drive - Maxtor DiamondMax 9 80G ATA133 cable - known good rated for 133 How do I know if my system is really running the hard drive in full ATA133 mode or not? Don't I have to add a special driver to get full ATA133 speed out of it? thanks, charles..... |

You don't need any special driver....if the motherboard supports ATA133 (which that
board appears to), and the hard drive is ATA133, and you are using an 80-wire, 40-pin cable properly connected, then the system will set to ATA133. -- Glen Ventura, MS MVP W95/98 Systems http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm "***** charles" wrote in message ... For example I have heard that Windows 2000 Pro only goes up to ATA100. I am not sure about Windows XP. thanks again, charles..... |
