Default testing ATA133 on a W98SE machine?

Hi all,

I have the following:

motherboard - ECS L7VMM3 3200+
hard drive - Maxtor DiamondMax 9 80G ATA133
cable - known good rated for 133

How do I know if my system is really running the
hard drive in full ATA133 mode or not? Don't I
have to add a special driver to get full ATA133
speed out of it?

thanks,
charles.....

You don't need any special driver....if the motherboard supports ATA133 (which that
board appears to), and the hard drive is ATA133, and you are using an 80-wire,
40-pin cable properly connected, then the system will set to ATA133.

Thanks for the info Glee. I have heard that some Windows
OS's do not support ATA133 "out of the box". For
example I have heard that Windows 2000 Pro only goes
up to ATA100. I am not sure about Windows XP.

thanks again,
charles.....
