This is interesting...
WinME. Win Media Player 9.x. 'Just upgraded it [WMP] and I cannot remove the
shortcut icon from the desktop. It lets me delete it but it comes back on reboot. I'm baffled. |

I assume you have something in Startup that is recreating the icon as
I just removed mine and rebooted and it didn't return. Check in Msconfig for any oddities. (Start-Run-MSCONFIG-Startup tab) If you cannot see anything in Msconfig then: Start-Run-msinfo32 Click the + beside Software Environment to expand. Click Startup Programs Ctrl+A to Select All, Ctrl+C to Copy. Paste that information in your message. ....Alan -- Alan Edwards, MS MVP W95/98 Systems http://dts-l.org/index.html In microsoft.public.windowsme.software, "MajBach1" wrote: WinME. First place I looked but I cannot ever remember seeing - for any program - a
launch that replaces a shortcut icon. "Alan Edwards" wrote in message ... I assume you have something in Startup that is recreating the icon as I just removed mine and rebooted and it didn't return. Any 'please wait .. completing installation' message, during boot process?
Does it return if you boot into Safe Mode? Don't quite know where this is leading - but they do seem pertinent questions g Mart "MajBach1" wrote in message .. . Not at all, I appreciate the input. This has really got me perplexed.
There was nothing abnormal about the installation - think it was done thru Winupdate. I do not get any reoccurring startup messages and the is nothing on the start-up sequence remotely related to this. It's a simple icon that keeps coming back every reboot. Properties are as follows: "C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\wmplayer.exe" WTF? "Mart" wrote in message ... Any 'please wait .. completing installation' message, during boot process?
