Default Error Starting Program

Since using AOL computer Checkup I get the following
message when I boot up my computer:

" A required .DLL file, EGGCENGINE.DLL, was not found."
Do I need this file? If not how do I eliminate it from my
computer.

If you have this one you probably have more.

Download AdAware from http://www.lavasoftusa.com/, install it, start it up
and get the latest updates, then run it and clean off everything it finds.
Restart the system and run it again. Keep running, cleaning and restarting
until clean. Some stubborn pests may require a startup in Safe Mode to
clean fully.

I'd also recommend a visit here to get the CWS cleaner, which targets one
specific pest:

EGGCENGINE.dll comes with adware named Gator/GAIN/Claria.
The Checkup app most likely removed the file without cleaning any references to it.

I suggest the following procedures:

Update your anti-virus app and then run a full-system virus scan.

Use CWShredder, the CoolWeb removal tool, available he

In addition, install Ad-Aware 6 free edition, start it, click its 'Check for
Updates' link in the app to install updates, then use it to scan your system, and
remove what it finds.

Install, update and run SpyBot Search & Destroy, scan your system, and then remove
the items in RED only.
