Note though that this isn't the first MS purchase of an AV company having bought a European company whose name I have totally forgotten at least a year ago and also it purchased Giant, an anti malware rather than AV company, in late 2004. What I feel it does do is further confirm Microsoft's intention to take security seriously. -- Mike Maltby MS-MVP |

There was also MSAV back in Dos 6 days, which I think was CheckPoint
Software. It was going to eliminate the need for 3rd party AV! Good Luck BarryG "David H. Lipman" wrote: Mike: The first was RAV ~2yrs ago. NO...
MSAV was Central Point Anti Virus OEM'd to Microsoft and renamed MSAV. Central Point Software was bought by Norton and Norton dropped the Central point product lines and subsequently stripped the product for their code to improve the quality and catch rate of NAV. MSAV was dropped by Microsoft. I believe MSAV came stock with WfW v3.11. -- Dave "BarryG" wrote in message ... | There was also MSAV back in Dos 6 days, which I think was CheckPoint | Software. I believe MSAV came stock with WfW v3.11.
Well, it came with MS-DOS 6.xx and Win 3.xx installed over the top. Shane. |

Offered, during installation, along with MSBackup for Windows and/or DOS.
It's on the 3rd 6.22 floppy. Shane "David H. Lipman" wrote in message ... It was a Win16 GUI. -- Dave "Shane" wrote in message ... | I believe MSAV came stock with WfW v3.11. | | | Well, it came with MS-DOS 6.xx and Win 3.xx installed over the top. | | | Shane. | | |
