Default internet stops after 10 minutes

Hello,
My step sister has a problem.. she is running win98.. dial up... after about
10 minutes online, her internet just shuts off. Everything else is fully
accessible.
I read a post earlier.. ran down the list of things to do ... but I do not
understand what they meant by, check call preferances... Can someone please
explain this to me... Help me help her get her internet back on the right
track.

As always ,, I know Ill get the problem solved here..

Thank you in advance..

You did not give enough info ( as the others said).
Is this 'shut off' always at 10 minutes?
Or..You feel it is 10 minutes?
Could it be 2minutes or 5 or 8?
One thing you can do is call your phone company (If it is a dialup modem)
and have them run a signal/strenght test on your phone line.
If the signal is low there will be click sounds on the line and the modem
will detect this as a dissconnect order.
I spent a couple of days reconfigureing my PC and talking to the ISP tech
support to finally calling the phone company and finding out it was thier
line signal all along.

Your modem probably has built-in diagnostics which can produce a
last-call report. This will tell you about the quality of your phone
line.

Information your modem can tell you about your connection:
