My internet connection stops when I defrag a disk!
wrote in message
oups.com... I connect using dialup, but if I try to do a defrag or move a large amount of files from one folder to another the dialup connection stops. When the defrag finishes, the connection resumes as normal. This may be normal because DEFRAG uses both CPU time and HD writing functions so intensively. This seems to be the reason some non-MS utilities allow you to set the CPU load between 10 per cent (background) and 90 pct. (foreground.) Which utility do you use to DEFRAG? Resumption of the DUN connection suggests your system is working the way it was designed. (Posts to 5 other NGs deleted.) -- Don Phillipson Carlsbad Springs (Ottawa, Canada) |
