Default Number Lock

The Number Lock key will not stay on whenever I shut down & then boot up
again. It has always stayed on before, but I had some recent repairs done on
my computer and now I have to push it on each time I go to use it. Can
anyone tell me how to make it stay on even if I shut down & later boot back
up?

It's aggravating to have to reset it each time.

You have to go into BIOS settings and find the setting for Numlock, On =
or Off. How you get into BIOS varies from machine to machine. Most often =
the Delete key, but may be F1, F2 or F10. There should be a notice =
telling you how, somewhere on the screen as soon as anything appears =
after starting up.

Usually that is turned on or off in the BIOS setup. Most CMOS settings include the
option to enable or disable boot-up NumLock. If you cannot find the setting in the
BIOS setup, or if you prefer not to go there, you can add this line in the
config.sys file instead:
NumLock=ON

To add a line to config.sys, click StartRun, type: msconfig and click OK.
Click the Config.sys tab, then the New button, and add that line.
Click OK and reboot.
