W98 NG name change proposal...
I've just been reading through the posts in the MS XP general NG, and it struck me, yet again, that it's obvious that this is a much better Newsgroup. Well, that's been obvious for many years actually, and a surprising number of XP questions are answered in here. ...and there's always been something very special about this NG compared to ALL the others.
In view that W98 was "on its' way out," and then MS extended support for the platform for another two years was it ? ...my thinking was that if this NG was renamed from news.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.win98.gen_discussion to news.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.win98andXP.gen_discussion then this NG would perhaps go on forever without losing that rather special quality during the transition from W98 to XP. :-) regards, Richard |

Erm....No. The Welsh jury vetos this motion.
1) We still get trolled too much as it is 2) Given that this group exists independently of any official line by MS on supporting 98 (and usually gives better answers IMO), it is still needed to perform its originally intended function 3) 98 and XP are different product lines (XP derives from NT) 4) Dang nabbit! We don' wan' them kinda folks over here! Of course, I realise you may be joking... -- Regards Nigel Stapley www.judgemental.plus.com reply e-mail address will bounce "RJK" wrote in message ... If anything it should be ME, 98, and 98SE in this newsgroup because these
operating systems are 9x code and not NT code. "Nigel Stapley" wrote in message ... In many instances the questions are the same but the answers are different. And there will still be people using Windows 98 (and MVPs supporting them) for a number of years to come. There is still 1 newsgroup for Windows 3.x and DOS and a number for Windows 95, and there are MVPs on those newsgroups as well. Ron Martell Duncan B.C. If that happened? The phrase comes to mind...
"Well...There goes the neigborhood" But they could start a NG for dual boot systems. Win98/XP dual boot. The oxygen deprived-ozone breathing XP MVPs would never go there because they would think it was beneath them. -----Original Message----- I've just been reading through the posts in the MS XP general NG, and it struck me, yet again, that it's obvious that this is a much better Newsgroup.
