Default MCSCAN32.VXD Error

I have Windows ME on a standalone HP Pavilion home computer

Last night I activated the shutdown routine, but turned
off the monitor before it was done.

This morning I turned on the monitor after seeing that the
computor was still on and saw the following:

MCSCAN32.VXD Error

Contact Network Associates Technical Support,
Quote: "Stack exceeded by 256 bytes."

After working my way through several screens with related
messages and "press any key to continue" or similiar words,
I finally had to use the off button on the pavilion to
turn the computor off and restart it. I came up OK, but I
want to know if I should investigate further and how.

Would appreciate any help.

Have you considered checking the Network Associates/McAfee web site for
assistance?
