Trying to install IE6 failed and corrupted IE5
-----Original Message----- Trying to install IE6 failed and corrupted IE5 I recently reformatted my hard drive and reinstalled WinMe. I am now tring to update to IE6 and doing so seemed to screw things up. I went to the windows update website and downloaded ie6setup.exe. I then selected to install all components includinding all language display options. It began to download and then soon froze. Since then I have attempted repeating the proccess using different install options each time and still no success. Also since I attempted this IE will only work for a little while and then it will not access the net at all. I am being forced to use the compserve software to write this letter and access the net in general. So what can I do to reverse the damage done by my attempted IE6 install? What caused this to happen in the first place? How can I prevent this from happening again? Is there any place I can go to download a copy of the full IE6 install that will let me download with a reliable download manager instead of IE? . My install froze at 62%. I am looking for an answer. No problem with 5.5 so far. |
