Hard Drive Not Seen
Windows 98, 2000
On a Dell machine, originally had Windows 2000 installed, became unbootable, giving "Inaccessible boot device". I added another HD already formatted with Windows 98 as Master, made the original HD the slave. Now booting, BIOS sees both HDs, but My Computer only shows C: HD and D: as CD-Rom Drive. In Device Manager, the Drive Letter for that Slave HD is blank and can not be set. In FDISK I am able to switch between the two HDs. FDISK shows a small portion of that Slave as DOS with the balance as NTFS. |

If the Win2000 partition is formatted in the NTSF file system, then Windows
98 can't see it. Only if the 2000 partition is FAT32 can the Windows 98 see it. -- Gary S. Terhune MS-MVP Shell/User www.grystmill.com "Earl Partridge" wrote in message ink.net...
