DLL and Updates
I had to reinstall ME, now I am having problems. It will
not let me do updates (tells me administrators only). I tried the solution MS suggested but these are the only files I could find in the registry: Default- value not set and Update URL - wupdmgr.exe. I do not know if I should mess with these. Also I get D3D8.DLL and Dinput8.DLL files missing, how do I get these? Thanks in advance for any help I can get. |

This sounds as if you reinstalled ME over the top of itself using the CD? and you had IE6 installed prior to this? If so, then you have more problems than you thought!! You will need to uninstall and reinstall Internet Explorer - then force reinstall of ALL your previously installed patches from Windows Update. Look here for instructions on un/reinstalling IE http://www.btinternet.com/~winnoel/ReInIE.htm -- Noel Paton (MS-MVP 2002-2004, Win9x) Nil Carborundum Illegitemi http://www.btinternet.com/~winnoel/millsrpch.htm Please read http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm on how to post messages to NG's or http://www.microsoft.com/presspass/f.../Mar27pmvp.asp "Kat" wrote in message ...
