Default Proxy Configuration Script

I have a Windows 98 computer that will not give up the automatic
configuration script in the LAN Setting for IE. If I wipe the line out and
hit "delete" in the address line it goes away until I have to go back in and
see it there again. Why isn't deleting it taking it away for good!?
