At this point you are going to have to open the PC tower and look for the
exact model number of your video card. It should be printed on the video card. Take precautions to prevent static electricity discharge which can damage the components. Or, you can look at the receipt for your PC to see if the model number of the video card is listed on it. Joe "Keith" wrote in message ... I did exactly as the instructions stated. The problem I have is that when I push the settings tab in the display applet program the only button on that page is an "Advance" button no "Change Display Type" button available. When I push the "Advance" button I get another applet that has 5 more tabs: General, Adapter, Monitor, Performance and Color Management. I click on the Adapter tab and the page shows that I have a Standard PCI Graphics Adapter (VGA) and also has a "change" button. When I push the "change" button it starts the " Update Device Driver Wizard". I follow through that and get to the page that shows me two choices, one that searches for a new driver and one that will allow me to select the driver from a list. I choose the select a driver from a list and I scroll to the manufacturer "S3" and in the models column it does not have my model, it has a list and in that list it has the following models that are close to what you said I have: "S3 Trio32 PCI (732)", "S3 Trio 32/64 PCI (732/764)", "S3 Trio64UV+ (767)", "S3 Trio64V+ PCI (765)", "S3 Trio64V2-DX/GX (775/785)". The model you said I have is a S3 Trio 3D video card. I'm at a stand still and I hope I explained it a little better this time. I appreciate you sticking with me through all this. Thanks again. The driver I posted for your S3 video card should work without any problems.
However, there is a later driver for your card which can be found he http://www.softwarepatch.com/utilities/s33dtrio.html The installation process is the same. Joe "Keith" wrote in message ... Thats for the reply Brian but I got the driver Joe gave to me installed
before I read your reply. Thanks Joe for all your patients and help. I don't know why I didn't download the unzipped info onto a floppy in the first place, but thats what did it. All is well on this home front. Except for my next problem of no sound. Is there a news group that I can correspond with on the sound card problem? Thanks again for everybodies help. Keith |

Glad to hear the video drivers are working. The sound card will be much
easier since you have a Creative Labs SB PCI128 (Ensoniq ES1371) Sound Card. http://us.creative.com/support/downloads/welcome.asp Click SoundBlaster, Others, PCI 128 and the Windows 98 Operating System. Scroll down to drivers. Joe "Keith" wrote in message ... Thats for the reply Brian but I got the driver Joe gave to me installed before I read your reply. Thanks Joe for all your patients and help. You were definitely right the sound card was much easier. Thanks again.
I only have one more problem that I know of and if you can help me with this I promise to leave you alone for awhile. I don't know to much about mother boards but I have a couple of USB ports that are attached. When ever I try to attach something to them they don't seem to recognize that anything is there. I tried to connect my Palm to one and Hotsync it with my computer but it won't make the connection. I also tried to hook-up a PC camera to them and it a;so says to check the connection. I shutdown the computer and restarted it to see if the computer would pick up new hardware and it doesn't. Are there drivers associated with these USB ports also or is it a totally different deal. Again if I should post this somewheres else please let me know and your help has been greatly appreciated. Thanks. Keith |

Do you have Windows 98 or 98SE? Windows 98 has USB support, but it's not as
extensive as 98SE. You'll probably find that in your camera and Palm documentation, 98SE is required. About 3 years ago, maybe longer, I purchased a Windows 98SE Update disk on eBay just like this one for about $25 including shipping. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...1560 181&rd=1 (DISCLAIMER - it's not my auction and I am not endorsing this auction. The link is posted strictly for informational purposes.) They cost more now because there just aren't as many 98SE Update/Upgrade disks around. If you decide to buy a 98SE Update or Upgrade disk, ask the seller if a Product Key comes with the disk. If not, don't buy the disk. You can see the large orange sticker on the folder where the middle disk is. That's the product key. You might want to check with a friend who has a 98SE CD but no longer uses it, because he or she now uses Windows XP. BTW - you're not bothering me or anyone else who offers help here. That is what this newsgroup is for. Joe "Keith" wrote in message ... You were definitely right the sound card was much easier. Thanks again. In windows 98&SE you have to install hardware drivers for each item to
connect to USB ports, the drivers may be on the software cd or at the manufacturers web site, or the device may not support 98 at all. Install the drivers while the device is not connected, reboot and then connect the device, and the new hardware wizard should appear -- Adaware http://www.lavasoft.de spybot http://security.kolla.de AVG free antivirus http://www.grisoft.com Etrust/Vet/CA.online Antivirus scan http://www3.ca.com/securityadvisor/virusinfo/scan.aspx Panda online AntiVirus scan http://www.pandasoftware.com/ActiveScan/ Catalog of removal tools (1) http://www.pandasoftware.com/download/utilities/ Catalog of removal tools (2) http://www3.ca.com/securityadvisor/n...aspx?CID=40387 Blocking Unwanted Parasites with a Hosts file http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm links provided as a courtesy, read all instructions on the pages before use Grateful thanks to the authors/webmasters _ "Keith" wrote in message ... | You were definitely right the sound card was much easier. I have 98SE installed on this computer. I had my Palm installed and
working on the other computer that I just transferred everything from. I don't have the paperwork for the camera anymore, but I did have it installed and working on a computer other than these two that I have mentioned and that computer also had 98SE. I used the installation disk for both items and installed evrything before I rebooted and connected the devices to the USB ports, but no new hardware wizard appeared. What should I do at this point? Thanks. Keith. |
