Hi Sarah,

If you are positive about having to reinstall everything to get
Office installed then that's what you will have to do. You may
want to check with the manufacturer of the install CD to see
if Office can be installed independently.

I would also suggest you do a virus scan with up to date virus
software, then scan for and removing any installed spyware.
If you are in need of virus software, here are a couple to choose from, for
free.
Download the software, and in Update Manager run Update
then do a complete virus scan.
Free Offer: eTrust EZ Armor Security Suite from Computer Associates
http://www.my-etrust.com/microsoft/index.cfm

Search and destroy any installed SpyWare/malware/adwa
Ad-aware is a free multi spyware removal utility that scans
your memory, registry and hard drives for known spyware
components and lets you remove them safely. After installing
Ad-Aware make sure to run the update feature before scanning.
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/ For large amounts of installed
spyware and such, it may be necessary to run Ad-Aware several
times to clear them all.

Here are a couple more removal tools.
CWShredder:

Download Link:

Spybot:
http://www.safer-networking.org/

SpywareBlaster:
http://www.wilderssecurity.net/spywareblaster.html
SpywareBlaster doesn't scan and clean for spyware - it
prevents it from ever being installed. SpywareBlaster is
a non memory resident utility. It works by setting a "kill bit"
for the CLSIDs of spyware ActiveX controls, it prevents the
installation of any of them from a webpage.

What have you done to confirm that WORD is really gone (as distinct from
simply becoming inaccessible for some reason)?

Thanks for your replies people, much appreciated, I know
it's gone as when i try to open it up via the icon still
on my desktop it says ; not found- you will have to
reinstall it again (not literal wording) from your
original installation disk.
This is exactly what I wanna avoid as it means
reformatting my entire hard drive as Word is not
accessable alone.....

I am at a loss as to what to do, I have Adaware and Zone
Alarm as well as an updated version of Norton Anti Virus
running at all times which is why I cannot fathom what
happened here.

You don't know of any sites where I can download Word
from, which is what I hoped?

Use Start / Find / Files or Folders and look for a file called WinWord.EXE.
If you find it, double-click it. If that works, then the problem is simply
with the shortcut and is easily fixed by creating a shortcut to the EXE
file. A common cause for this problem is that accidentally moved the whole
WORD installation folder inside another folder.
