Changing Default Player

My movie player will not work because it keeps using the
old version of movie player. How do I change the file
types to play on the newer version of the movie player

double click my computer - view - Folder Options - File types - find the
file type you want to change its application for - select - edit - high
'open' - edit - browse - find the program (.exe file) that you want to use
to open it with. - OK - OK - OK

If you look in the movie players preferences there should also be an option
for what file types it associate with itself
