Default DOS Data

This might be of some use to someone. If you can't transmit or Sync data to
and from an external device, while using a DOS program in Windows, and you're
sure the cable is hooked up to the com/port and secure, try this. Go into
"true command prompt". This is not the one in Accessaries. You need Windows
completly closed. In '98 it's a shut down option. In ME, open in Safe Mode,
then Accessaries, MS DOS Prompt. Make sure everything is set to be compatible
(bits, parody, transfer speed etc.). Voila! Your old reliable (Casio Boss?)
still has some miles left.

I have a self-extracting zip - so one click - and the proven safe mfd4life
(at least when I acquired it many years ago) Real Mode WinME DOS patch files
are copied over (backing up the originals), adds a Start Menu entry with
options to enable or disable Real Mode (and automatic reboot to complete the
switch). If already in one or other particular mode, clicking it again
simply copies the root files over the Real Mode originals (autoexec.bat and
config.sys), so you can edit them and immediately back them up rather than
lose the changes next time you cycle.

No-one has ever wanted this! It does increase boot time a little, but if
that bothers the user, then they can return to original mode, rebooting to
real mode only when wanted.

Sorry Mike, I meant that nothing in the startup menu was running and this
seems to allow transmitting or Sync.

False. With Win Me for DOS you need to boot from a floppy otherwise you
are simply running in a window, Safe Mode or not.
