Default removing old windows

Before I reinstalled windows in another partition and hd, i moved
windows to another hd in the event I wanted something that I had
forgotten. Now, I want to remove that window, but it denies me...why and
how can I get rid of the old windows?

Windows will not allow you to delete any file that is
currently loaded: this may be your problem; or it
may be that your old folder D:/Windows is still
marked "System," this protected by the OS; or it
may be a hint that, despite installation to new C:/Windows,
your Registry still calls one or more files in D:/Windows
You can check for this possibility by searching the
Registry for calls to D:/Windows instead of C:/Windows.

When you are sure you need nothing in D:/Windows
you can DELete it in a DOS box. DOS commands
are not inhibited like those of Windows.

That should not be happening--I am thinking that the original install of
Windows might still be your active system. Do some more investigating
before deleting anything. What happens if you unplug the ribbon cable from
the hard drive with the supposedly old Windows on it--will the system still
boot?

Well, I went into dos and found that my windows that I want to delete is
now shown in a different partition drive. Why do the drives change? In
windows exploerer it is shown in the D drive and in dos it is shown in
the F drive...whew..I almost deleted the wrong window.
