Can't connect with Windows ME and cable modem
HI,
I am having major trouble with windows me and my internet connection. I also keep getting a wmpdxm.dll error(which I now know how to fix) which I understand is related to windows media player. Every time I open my browser, it tries to connect to an ip address that starts with 66.xxx There appears to be some type of firewall that is preventing communication according to the comcast tech guys....they can recognize my cable modem but I can't ping them. windows does not recognize that I have an active internet connection Norton antivirus didn't show anything...I reinstalled windows me with no luck. I suspect a trojan horse or other spyware. I will try to run spybot, etc. any other suggestions? I used to run zone alarm but had it removed a while back. any help is much appreciated. might this all be related to the wmpdxm.dll error? thanks RD |
