Hi Sandi. I checked, and I did have the patch. However, I reinstalled it, but did not know how to uninstall the first one, so now it tells me there is an unknown module error. Any ideas?

When I attempt to install 818529, it tells me I must have IE 6.0 Service Pack 1 installed first. My IE says the service pack is installed. Now what should I do?

There is a lot more to that FAQ than one patch.

I have tried the other appropriate patches, to no avail. I've even tried to uninstall IE 6.0, since I never had a problem with 5.5. I think that works best with 98SE. The add/remove program would not let me uninstall 6.0, but only repair it. I am tired of fighting with this, and having all type of weird error messages popping, including those with "flash" and "unknown" modules affected. What happened to the days of internet usage without this stuff happening? I am even thinking of using another browser, although I do prefer IE. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

Jeff,

Rather than switching browsers, I would bite the bullet and wipe your system
clean and start afresh.

Sandi, are you talking about reformatting my hard drive and everything, or completely uninstalling IE. If you are talking about IE, how would I do that? Every place I have tried to seek information on how to do that, has not given me the information I need to start over.
I appreciate your help. Jeff

Sandi, I appreciate your idea, but I have over 23 GB of data stored on my hard drive, which would be extremely difficult to back up. There has to be a way to uninstall IE 6.0. IE 5.5 was much better. I never had any problem with it, but when the Microsoft site said to upgrade, I did. A big mistake on my part.
