Noel you are incorrigible. In fact I would liken you to a
knight in armour somewhat glazed-over; whose thoughts, on
leading a thirsty damsel in distress to a pond would be
roaming in directions other with regard to her
satisfaction. And yet I see you soaking wet and clanking
madly - and she smiling wickedly!

So there.

I love LexMark - well my version prints beaufilly.

Have
tried the new drivers. It goes to a genius of a local
small town guy on Tuesday, as LexMark have suggested
trying it on a second comp. If it has failed, well I
shall
adopt your attititude towards it. That said I require

Hello,

One of the least desirable outcomes of

partitioning,
formatting and installing recently has been the

loss
of a
printer - which was running, prior to this, as

well
as
it
had from the beginning.

Having had much advice from Lexmark and followed

it
to
no
avail; there now seems to be silence.

I have used the Windows trouble-shooter. And read
the
KB
article on printer problems, down to the Run
command.

Connections are good. The software disc well-used
over
three years, except for the fact that Me now

freezes
with
the download screen showing instant calendars

being
installed.

I was able to create floppies as offered on that
screen
but on several occasions I have waited for up to

10
mins.
for a completion without that happening. All the
software
appears to be installed. I have uninstalled and

re-
installed several times.

Device Manager has the correct port and reports

all
in
order.

I have had Windows Wizard run the CD with an
identical
result. Printer not Ready. Surely it cannot be
coincidence
that this failure followed the PF and I.

Ideas please.

Thanks.

Ben.

Hello Cari,

I love him too but I would never wish him to know it! bg

My printer, the excellent and most artistic of critters,
and a 'family' member to boot, is recovered. The problem?
An old man's rapidly declining eyesight which failed to
see a pin on a contacter-plug which was invisible by means
of being not present.

Vive Lexmark. And my thanks - for all who do their level
best to keep the rest of us up and running.

Ben.

Excellent news! If sometime in the future you are contemplating the
purchase of a new printer, you might want to see:

Lexmark printers aren't quite as economical as they may first appear!

Hello Cari,

I am an avid follower of all the BBC offers. It is a
little naive perhaps, to think there are bargains in the
world of the 'new' anything. One's experience teaches, and
my experience of Lexmark, as a company offering service
for it's product, is unparalleled.

I shall go, for a first visit, to your website.

Best wishes.

Ben.
