A Pest from Where?
Hi. I uninstalled QuickTime a couple of weeks ago and made sure all files
and registry entries had gone. As this ap will, it has sneaked back several times but now seems to have accepted that I don't want it. My problem is that I cannot get rid of a persistent message telling me that QT has been uninstalled (which I know!) and asking if I want to reinstall (which I don't !). Can someone tell me if there is any way to zap this pest, please.? My IP is AOL. Thanks. |

Try this:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=30673 Then this little tools if the above fails: http://members.lycos.co.uk/codestuff/ or this: http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/Autoruns.html Be carefull with autoruns! It will identify pretty well all startup items but it's up to you to be certain that they are safe to turn off! What about msconfig? Nothing showing in there relating to quacktime? A Pest from Where?
Hello John John,
Well that was sorted! AOL and Quicktime are a partnership. Quicktime is installed when folk sign-up for an internet connection with AOL. Any attempt to uninstall QT will result in the message at log-on (see my attached gif previous post this thread). A stiff letter is on its way to AOL. Thanks. Ben.
