Default Microsoft Visual C++ Error Message

I'm running Windows ME (I know that's my even bigger
issue) but hopefully there is a solution to this error
message I keep getting. Everytime I right click the
desktop, and I don't mean right click an item. I can right
click on an item just fine. But if I right click in an
open area on the desktop, I get an error message that
reads:

-Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Program C:/Windows/Explorer.exe
abnormal program termination

And when I click ok, Explorer completely closes and I am
left with just my desktop wallpaper showing...no icons no
nothing. The only thing I can do then is hit
ctrl+alt+delete and do a shutdown.

Does anyone know a way to get rid of this error and fix my
right click feature?? Please email me at:

Thank you!!

Does it display the same characteristics in SafeMode ?

Download and run these 3 pest-control programs..

free for personal use antivirus tool:
http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_dwnl_free.php

free for personal use spybot/adware detection & removal tools:
http://www.safer-networking.org/
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/

and see what happens.

This is Mark again. I am having the same problem she is
having. I have already removed all the bad programs and
tried the things in the other messages under my original
message. My friend suggested I have a virus that is not
detected by AVG and that was not removed from my system
during my format and re-installation. Other suggestions?

The computer is lucky my hammer was removed from this room.
