new CD-RW & Nero; now bluescreen 06 0028:00000017

Installation of CD-RW and restart OK.
Install of Nero software no problem.
Restart of computer:
Desktop icons came up OK

Last to boot was McAfee viruscan,
screen went blue

exception 0E at 0028:C0049810

9 sys files corrupted/replaced

still bluescreen exception error

Much testing by phone with Digital Pacific
and McAfee.

Bluescreen exception remains, now reads
06 at 0028:00000017 in VxD ---
called from 0028:C1837E60
VxD Voltrack(4) 00000430

Yes, I have seen that article.

Problem is, if the correction was stated or implied, I
wasn't smart enough to understand. Many of these answers
say "it applies to this specific problem only, don't use
it otherwise". This was not a fatal exception, rather
just an exception. I don't know how to "deincrement" the
mentioned CONFIG file.

Suggestions???
