Default cursor "sticking" in text?

On Fri, 27 Mar 2009 08:14:52 +0000, "J. P. Gilliver (John)"
put finger to keyboard and composed:

I've had this before, and know a restart will cure it, but wonder if
anyone knows what causes it. (I had thought it was a Turnpike problem,
but just found it is happening in another window.)

My mouse cursor has just decided it won't drag over text. Where it is an
arrow, it moves fine; but when I drag it over some text, it turns into
the usual "I-beam", and catches; it then won't move. Vigorous agitation
will let me have it back if I can move it into a bit of screen on which
it would be (and thus is) an arrow, such as up or down if where it is is
a single line of text in a webpage that has a lot of space on it.

Not a problem - just curious.

I'd watch a CPU usage meter when this is happening.

FWIW, I sometimes have a problem where the mouse pointer is out of
sync with the data entry boxes in HTML forms. IIRC, reloading the page
is all that is required to restore normal operation.

Can you reposition the mouse pointer with the Tab key?
