Default opening win 98 without running scan to avoid "128 unknown error (code5)

A previous post got me the reply below which appears to be
correct according to the website link provided.

An example of my error screen is shown on the website but
as a non technical user I dont know the solution. If I do
understand correctly then I am to stop McAfee running
before it gets to the error (the command line shell for
all Windows products will display the following error:"128
unknown error (code5)").
How should I do that?

It is an error related to Mcafee antivirus

opening my computer I receive the folloowing error message
during start up "128 unknown error (code5)" and I can not
go any further.
Any ideas how to solve this or what it is?

Steve,

There must be something I am missing.
If the answer by Mark is correct, then what is the problem?
What don't you understand about the answer?
Why are you not responding to Mark and the original thread instead of
starting a new thread?
If it is a McAfee problem, then why not ask them?

....Alan
