Default Access 2nd Partition

Hi,

One of my computers is a portable Compaq 386 (sold for $5,700 around
1988). It has 2 meg of ram and Dos 6.22. I replaced the 40 meg hdd
with a Quantum "Lightning" 750 meg, that was partitioned (on a newer computer)
into two logical drives (520 meg and 230 meg). The 386 BIOS doesn't "see"
above 520 meg. Note: The MBR is the same as it was on the newer computer.
I would like to know a way to access the second 230 meg partition which was
formatted on the newer computer. Editing the MBR, and changing the
"active" partition to the second partition, resulted in a "missing os" error
during a reboot. If I booted from a floppy boot disk, then switched to C:
drive, I was in the "first partition drive". I put back the original MBR.

I asked a tech support person from Maxtor, which now owns Quantum's hdd
products, where could I get an "overlay"? He told me to download "MaxBlast"
V3.*, which I did. After creating the bootable floppy, I tried it (bootable
floppy) on the 386 (CGA graphics system), but it couldn't complete it's
startup, perhaps due to incompatibility? The error message, "command
or filename not recognized" (no clue to what command or filename?) was
displayed and everything "locked up". Note: I found the source of that error
message in "COMMAND.COM" (of DrDos) in that bootable floppy, created
by MaxBlast.

I searched the web for an old Quantum overlay, but I couldn't find one.
If you know a technique on how I can access the second partition, please let
me know. Note: I don't have to access both partitions at the same time. If
you know of a "switching" technique, that will be just fine.

Thanks in advance, Brad
